It just turned midnight on new year's eve 2006, and I can't believe how much has
happened this year. Julie and I dealt with her cancer, we got engaged,
Lillian got a new record deal, and the vampire movie is back on track. The
release date for Water's Rising is April, and we are now in the process of
finalizing the album art. NLE is starting to record a new record in two
weeks, and Angel will record a new album before the summer. I would like
to take the opportunity to thank everyone for your continual support, even
though we make you wait so long for new music (Julie says it will be worth the
wait!). I also plan on starting a new solo album this year....if I could
put out a new record every week I would.
My new year's resolution is to be more patient with people, even though I would prefer to physically harm a lot of them for their stupidity, but I will try to relax and realize that they are only human : ) I also plan on eating more healthy with Julie's help. I have way too much music left to create. I hope everyone is safe, healthy, and right with God.

*Tao of M - The Tao of M crew are in the process of regrouping as the city of New Orleans slowly comes back to life following Hurricane Katrina. Production is expected to resume late February 2006. James Bills, the director, and his family were trapped for 7 days following Hurricane Katrina. During this time he filmed a documentary of all they saw and endured. A trailer for this documentary, entitled Refuge of Last Resort is available on the Tao of M website. Music was written by Steve Blaze.

Hello everyone. Long time no see. Well where do I start? As you all know life has changed fairly dramatically over the last 5 weeks for lots of people. Things have changed inside of my head as well. I have come to some great realizations about mankind and life itself, some good some bad. I can't get into it right now because it would take days to cover it all. Maybe we can set up an online chat soon. On the Near Life front, we are bummed to report that our latest greatest addition to the band, Richard Kendrick, is moving to Belgium for a year to a year and a half in the next 2 months. He has added so much to NLE and complements us so well as a player and a person. We will continue on by having either Sam Poitevent or Bob Bearden, the original 2nd guitarist, sitting in with us. On Oct. 22nd at Click's in Baton Rouge, Richard will play his last show with us for a while. However, we will not miss a step. We are in pre-production for a new NLE album now. It will no doubt be our finest album yet. I feel the intensity of creative outpouring at this moment in my life. We will be revamping some of the old NLE songs as well as some brand new things. Richard will record from Belgium. We need to spread the word about NLE and get the music out there to labels, websites and magazines. Don't forget the websites esp. www.nearlifeexperience.com www.nlesecretsociety.com www.lillianaxe.com www.steveblaze.com. Also there is a near life experience page on myspace. It is the time to kick things into high gear. Never again will I wait 3 years to release another record.
On the Lillian Axe front. We are finishing and mixing the Waters Rising album. I am very pleased with the sound. It's different and full. The songs are deep and timeless. Derrick sounds amazing as do my bandmates. We promise to tour as much as possible. There are cities all across the country we plan on hitting this coming year. Start spreading the word. Email every website and call every radio station you can and put the bug in everyone's ear.
I have started writing my 2nd solo album as well. You can imagine what this one will be like.
We will commence prepping for the Tao of M in November as the French Quarter rebuilds.

got word that my house has minor damage but my animals are inside with no food
I can't get to them because of the gas shortage Derrick, Lillian's singer is
in Metairie with electricity and cell phone service don't ask me how however,
he was kind and brave enough to go to my mother's and break in and feed her
cats there was no water inside but it seemed that there was at least a foot of
water at one time....it's trashed....Rob Hovey's house also seems to have had
massive damage...I haven't heard from my daughter in days...she's safe but her
new house was in Slidell, so I am sure it's gone....here in Starkville, they
have run out of gas for now...I have a full tank and gas cans but I couldn't
make it home and back.....I have this to say right now....
THIS IS A DEVASTATING SITUATION FOR LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE COUNTRY,
HOWEVER, WE WILL PULL THROUGH THIS....I WILL BE DAMNED IF I LET MOTHER NATURE
OR MAN'S SELFISHNESS OR WHATEVER KEEP ME FROM MOVING ON....I THANK ALL OF YOU
FOR YOU PRAYERS AND CONCERN....WE HAVE A GREAT GROUP OF FRIENDS HERE....ROB
DID SAVE THE COMPUTER WITH THE LILLIAN AXE ALBUM...WE WILL FINISH IT....I HAVE

Steve on Extreme Radio
Steve Blaze will be appearing on the SI STUD'S 3 Yr Anniversary Show on Extreme Radio. The show will air on Friday, June 3rd starting at 10pm EST and on Sunday June 5th starting at 9pm EST. Milena Rimassa-Merrill, President/CEO of Isis Films, will be taking the pre-production trailer for the film as well as some promotional material to solicit additional funding to the The Cannes Film Festival 2005 on May 9, 2005. Shooting begins July 11, 2005. They will need much assistance (actors, crew, grip) and many extras once production starts. ~~Sam Departs/New Guitarist Announced~~
"After being an integral part of NLE for 5 years, Sam has decided to depart the band due to band overload. He is still staying in Lillian however. We will miss him very much, but we respect his decision. It takes a lot out of a person just to be in one band, much less 3. Richard Kendrick, a former New Orleanian, who used to play in bands opening for Lillian, will take the position. He has already been worked in and will play his first show soon. He is a true musician, playing guitar, singing backup, and playing keyboards. He excels at all 3.
We are in the process of a video for "Cradle". The director of "Zed" will be directing. The performance shots are done and look crazy and unique. We will announce shows soon. We are adding new songs to the list as well."

The movie soundtrack includes original score written by Steve and Eric; NLE songs All in Time, Goodbye Cruel World, Razorface, Last Days of the Martyr; One Sad Sunday from Steve's solo CD, as well as material from Catch Velvet.
Filming is set to start this month in New Orleans for the full length feature film version of Slayer Zed and the City of the Dead. They need approximately 15 female vampires to audition. There are other possible roles as well. The director, James Bills, will review pictures and bios of anyone interested. Please submit any information and/or questions to dvdslayerzed@yahoo.com.
